Xiaomi has confirmed that it will roll out the HyperOS update for older Redmi smartphones with Android 13.
After the release of HyperOS for the Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi fans eagerly anticipated the update for their smartphones. However, many older smartphone users were unsure whether they would receive the HyperOS update or not.
The Redmi K40, Xiaomi 12X, and Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G have been found running the HyperOS Build on Android 13 recently. It seems that Xiaomi is making an effort to give its older devices the HyperOS update instead of an Android version upgrade.
This can be considered a fair move as it allows users to enjoy the new features of HyperOS without having to buy a newer model, but there’s a catch.
Keep reading to find out the list of all eligible smartphones for HyperOS update and what you’re missing if you update your old Redmi device to HyperOS.

There is a major shift in performance and functionality when upgrading your smartphone from MIUI to HyperOS, some of the major upgrades and features are listed below:
- HyperOS is much faster and optimized when compared to MIUI.
- Cross-platform operations are now much easier to monitor and manage.
- Less OS file size and cleaner UI experience with more customizations and features.
- Added functionality when using different Apps and other services.
- Use of generative AI in real time to generate images, texts, subtitles or to summarise text from a webpage or document file.
- Support for the Integration of AI makes it future-ready.
- The overall redesign of the whole operating system.

Final Words
Most devices that still have one major OS update left support HyperOS. However, older generation devices may not receive the update if support for them has been discontinued.
If your device is on the discontinued list, you cannot use HyperOS unless you intend to use a Custom ROM on your device.
In summary, if you get a HyperOS update available for your smartphone then you can easily upgrade your smartphone to HyperOS and enjoy new features and improved performance.
