What Is Rabbit R1 And How Is It Different From a Smartphone?
At first glance, Rabbit R1 has a very unconventional design that we haven’t seen before and is nowhere near smartphones. I have covered everything you need to know about the Rabbit R1 in the brief below.
What is Rabbit R1?
Rabbit R1 is a portable AI gadget that was launched at CES 2024 by an AI Startup Rabbit Inc. claiming to be the “Simplest computer so intuitive that you don’t have to learn how to use it”. Unlike smartphones where we interact by using our fingers on the display, Rabbit R1 uses voice commands. It has all the features just like our conventional smartphone and works on pretty much similar hardware.
Rabbit R1 Overview and Specifications
Design And Overview
The Rabbit R1 has a square boxy design where you get a display paired with a 360-degree camera and an Analog Scroll Wheel just below it at the front side, and again the same camera and analog scroll wheel at the back with a rectangular speaker grill below it. It also has a Push-To-Talk button on the right side that can be used to interact with it using voice commands.
The overall design is pretty different and creative giving the R1 its own unique identity. The overall aesthetics of R1 look minimal and good, especially with its orange color.
Display
Talking about the display the R1 features a 2.88-inch LCD touchscreen display to show the information and an analog scroll wheel to navigate and use other features.
Camera
This small device is not just portable but also has a creative approach towards its hardware, namely the “Rabbit Eye” a 360-degree rotatable camera that at first glance looks like something from the future.
RAM, Storage And Connectivity Options
The Rabbit R1 comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage where you can charge your device through a Type C port and has all other connectivity options like Bluetooth and WiFi.
You can also use your 4G SIM as it supports Global 4G LTE Network to make use of the internet and other features like calling and messaging.

Rabbit R1 vs Smartphone – What’s The Difference?
Rabbit R1 is different from your smartphone as it uses a natural language learning approach instead of an app-based operating system.
It’s just like having an evolved version of ChatGPT that you can use with voice commands to perform multiple tasks just like you do on your smartphone without actually opening it from an app or website.
Large Action Model (LAM) An Intuitive Approach To The Future.
Large Action Model
Large Action Model can learn any interface of any software regardless of which platform they are currently running on, it can also learn your behavioral patterns and optimize itself to mimic the same activity more fast and accurately. The main purpose of this is to get things done in more reliable and efficient ways.
Difference Between Large Action Model And Large Language Model
The major difference between the Large Action Model and the Large Language Model is how they are made to function. Generally Large Language Model are made to understand what you say whereas a Large Action Model gets things done on your behalf.
Is Rabbit Inc. The Next Apple?
When we talk about technology and innovation the first name that comes to our mind is the tech giant Apple. This lone wolf has dominated the premium smartphone market for more than a decade with its iPhones.
Comparing Rabbit Inc. with Apple makes no sense at such an early stage.
Rabbit R1 is the first product of Rabbit Inc. and we can expect more evolved models of it in the coming years whereas Apple is known for its innovations and has overcome every challenge in the past. The Rabbit R1 as mentioned in the launch brief is not a rival to a specific brand but a better alternative to smartphones that are more intelligent and intuitive.

Final Words
Rabbit R1 is a creative approach towards a new beginning, the features it claims and the value it offers for the price you pay can be a game changer in the coming year, although the final verdict can be only made once it’s used over time.
To conclude if this is what the future looks like then I’m excited about it.
